On Starting a Blog

This is the first post on my new blog.

Why write?

I've been thinking about this for a while. There's something valuable about putting ideas into words — it forces you to actually form a point of view, rather than letting thoughts stay comfortably vague.

What to expect

Mostly short essays on things I'm thinking about. Occasional photos. No set schedule — I'll write when I have something worth saying.

The setup

I wanted something simple and local. No database, no CMS, no account to manage. Just plain text files and a static site generator. If you want something similar, Zola is excellent.
